The kitesurfing season in the Dominican Republic typically spans from June to September, with the peak season occurring between July and August. During this period, the country experiences reliable winds, primarily driven by the northeast trade winds known as the “Alisios.” If you fancy more wave riding, a great time to visit DR for kitesurfing is January to April. DR is a windy place and you’ll be able to kite year round.

Cabarete is often referred to as the “Kitesurfing Capital of the World.” This vibrant town offers consistent winds, perfect waves, and flat water conditions. La Boca is a picturesque river mouth located near Cabarete. This spot provides flat water conditions and is suitable for freestyle riders and beginners.

Las Terrenas (and the area) is another flat water paradise, a bit less crowded than Cabarete. Some goes for Monte Cristi area.
