Mariner Park, Homer
/ year
An amazing location for beginning and advanced kiteboarders. One of the better places in the state for drive up and kite-type riding. The best riding tends to be in the spring and early summer and at lower tides. The entire spit is good kiting and makes for a great 4-mile down winder in either direction. SW wind predominates and is mostly thermal––if it’s sunny, it’s windy. Simple as that. Also good for landkite.
This is where KiteFest goes down every year.
It is your responsability to check whether kitesurfing is allowed at the spot; you might need a 'special permit' or membership from a local kite organization, etc. Local rules can change. Respect others - kiters or not; kite safely and enjoy the wind!
