While kite season in Mauritius is pretty much year-round, the best time to kitesurf in Mauritius is during the southeast trade wind season, which runs from May to October. Winds typically range from 15 to 25 knots, providing perfect conditions for an exhilarating session. The temperatures are warm year-round, so leave the wetsuit at home (unless you like dressing like a seal for fun). Just imagine yourself gliding over clear, warm waters, the sun on your back, and not a care in the world—until you need to land that next trick.

The crown jewel of kitesurfing in Mauritius, Le Morne is legendary. The area offers flat, shallow water perfect for beginners, and further out, you’ve got world-class waves like “One Eye” for the more adventurous. Just be sure to look up occasionally to take in the stunning Le Morne Brabant mountain towering above you!

Slightly less famous than Le Morne, but just as fantastic, Bel Ombre offers consistent winds, turquoise lagoons, and waves. It’s ideal if you’re looking for fewer crowds and more time in the water.

In the north, Anse La Raie is the most popular spot. In the SE Pointe d’Esny.

Île aux Cerfs: This little island off the east coast offers fantastic conditions for kitesurfing with its steady winds and flat, shallow waters. You can even treat yourself to a beachside BBQ afterward—because kiting burns calories, right?
