Kite Season
Corsica, a rugged jewel in the Mediterranean, beckons kitesurfers with its untamed beauty, turquoise waters, and reliable winds. As a French island southeast of the mainland, Corsica offers a unique blend of French and Italian influences against the backdrop of stunning landscapes, creating an exquisite setting for kitesurfing adventures.
The optimal kitesurfing season in Corsica spans from late spring to early autumn (May – September), aligning with the Mediterranean climate. During these months, the island experiences the powerful Mistral and Libeccio winds, creating ideal conditions for kitesurfing. Wind speeds typically range from 15 to 25 knots, offering thrilling rides for enthusiasts.
Located on the northwest coast, Calvi offers sandy beaches and reliable Mistral winds. Riders can enjoy both flat water and small waves, making it suitable for various skill levels. The picturesque backdrop of Calvi’s citadel adds to the charm of the kitesurfing experience. Head towards Plage du Club Olympique or Algajola.
In the southern part of Corsica, Pinarellu Beach is famous for its crystal-clear waters and fine sand. While not as windy as some other spots, it provides a more relaxed environment for riders looking to soak in the beauty of the Mediterranean. Close to the airport, there is Figari, further east Balistra (Bonifacio) and Piantarella where you can get some nice wind.
